Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) allows therapists to monitor a patient’s therapy adherence, engagement, and response to treatment outside of regular clinic visits. This helps therapists stay connected to the patient’s progress between appointments and make care plan adjustments when needed. RTM is also important from a billing and revenue perspective because certain remote monitoring and treatment management activities may be reimbursable when payer and documentation requirements are met.

By enabling RTM for appropriate patient cases, clinics can track engagement through Wibbi, receive RTM billing data in the system, and generate RTM note drafts for the therapist.

How Does Wibbi RTM Integration Work?

Wibbi Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) integration connects Fusion with Wibbi, allowing clinics to manage patient-facing RTM activity in Wibbi and complete documentation and billing steps in Fusion. When Wibbi sends RTM billing data to Fusion, an RTM note draft is automatically created, and the therapist signs and submits it through a workflow that is similar to a Daily Note.

RTM Benefits for Clinics

RTM helps clinics extend care beyond the scheduled visit by giving therapists a way to track patient engagement, identify issues earlier, and adjust the care plan when needed. For example, if a patient is not completing their home program or reports increased pain, the therapist can address the issue before the next visit rather than waiting until the patient returns to the clinic. This can help improve continuity of care, support better patient outcomes, and keep patients more engaged in their treatment plan.

RTM is also important because it creates a reimbursable opportunity for certain remote monitoring and treatment management services. Medicare recognizes specific CPT codes for RTM services, including initial setup and patient education, device/data monitoring, and monthly treatment management time. Physical therapists may bill RTM codes under Medicare when the service meets the applicable requirements, and some commercial payers may also cover RTM depending on the plan.
