Provider Verification Calls & NPPES Phone Number Requirements

Claim.MD requires a provider verification phone call as part of the enrollment process. To avoid delays, it is important to confirm that the phone number listed in the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) is correct before requesting enrollments. Claim.MD can only call the phone number currently listed in the NPPES. They are not able to use alternate numbers.

 

 

Step 1: Verify Your Phone Number in the NPPES

  • Before requesting enrollments, visit the NPPES website to confirm your phone number is accurate: https://nppes.cms.hhs.gov
  • If the phone number is not correct, you must update it in the NPPES before continuing. 

IMPORTANT: 

  • Changes can take up to 24 hours to appear on the NPPES website.
  • Do not request enrollment until the correct phone number is visible in the NPPES.

 

How to Update Your Information in the NPPES

  1. Go to https://nppes.cms.hhs.gov.
  2. Log in using your Identity and Access Management (I&A) User ID and password.
    • If you do not have an I&A account, select Create or Manage an Account.
    • If you forgot your login, use Forgot User ID or Password?
  3. Choose where you want to receive your multi‑factor authentication (MFA) code and select Send Verification Code.
    • If needed, select Go to I&A to edit MFA Method.
  4. Select Manage NPIs.
  5. Click Manage next to the correct NPI.
  6. Select Edit.
  7. Navigate to the section that needs updating and enter the correct information.

    NOTE: Some information, such as SSN or Date of Birth, cannot be updated online and requires a paper form.

  8. Complete the Error Check process.
  9. Review the Submission Certification, check the confirmation box, and select Submit.

After submission:

  • You will receive a tracking number.
  • Once processed, the NPPES will email all addresses listed on the NPI record.
  • The email will come from customerservice@npienumerator.com.
 

 

Step 2: Schedule Your Provider Verification Call

After you complete the enrollment wizard, you will receive an email from the TheraNest Enrollment Team asking you to schedule your provider verification call. 

Once you have confirmed your phone number is correct in the NPPES, you can schedule the call.

IMPORTANT:

  • You must be available to answer the phone at the scheduled time.
  • Claim.MD can only call the number listed in the NPPES. Do not provide a different phone number.
 

TIP:  Make sure you do not miss the call. To ensure the call goes through:

  • Disable any call blocking or spam filtering.
  • Add the following phone number to your contacts: 1‑505‑560‑1476

 

Once phone verification is completed:

  • Claim.MD will continue processing your enrollment request.
  • Watch for a follow‑up email with any additional steps needed to finalize enrollment.
