Add FormLab Form Data to Your Power BI File: Add the Data to Your Power BI File

Now that the data files have been downloading you can add the data to your Power BI File.

  1. Open your Power BI file provided to you by the system (Power BI - “Your Agency Name” Live).
  2. Click the Edit Queries button NOT the drop-down (This will open the Power Query Editor screen).

  3. Click the New Source drop-down and click Blank Query.

  4. Once the Blank Query appears, click Advanced Editor.

  5. Leave the Power BI screens open, locate and open the Text file for your FormLab™ form.

  6. Once the Text file opens, click inside and on your keyboard click Ctrl + A, then Ctrl + C.

  • This is copying the text in the file so it can be pasted into the Advanced Editor in Power BI.
  • Return to Power BI and in the Advanced Editor, delete any text in the box and paste the Text file.
  • Once the text appears, click Done.

  • Your data will now populate in the Query.
  • Change the Query Name to the FormLab™ Form Name by clicking in the box labeled Name in the PROPERTIES section on the right-hand side and typing the FormLab™ Form Name.
  1. Once done, click out of the box to change the name.
  2. The left-side column will update the Query Name.

Once you change the Query Name, click the Close & Apply button to add the Query containing our FormLab™ Form Data to our Power BI File.

Once the changes are finished being applied, your Query containing the FormLab™ Form Data will. now appear in the Fields area on the right-hand side of the Power BI File.

Save your Power BI File and Repeat these steps for each FormLab™ Form that data will be added.
