Medication Categories

Summary

Medication Categories allows you to create categories for one or more medications. This allows you to group together any medication family into a category. These categories are further viewed in a report.

Access

From the Drop-down Menu, go to Setup 🡪 Medication Categories.

Access Level Permissions

For all access levels that will be given permission to use the Medication Categories follow the steps below:

1. Go to Administration 🡪 Access Levels.
2. Select the pre-existing access level or create a new access level (see below for details).
   
3. Select the 2nd User Access Tab.
4. Flag Medication Categories.
5. Save and Repeat for each access level that will be given permission to use the Medication Categories.

Medication Categories Screen

1. Category Table- List of created Categories.
2. Medication Table- List of Medications assigned to the category.
3. Category Filter- Enter the name of a specific category.
4. Save- Click to save any changes.
5. Add Category- Click to create a new category.

Creating New Medication Categories

1. In order to create new medication categories, select the €œAdd Category€ button.
   
2. Enter the name of the new category.
3. Click €œOK€.
   
4. The new category will now appear in the list of medication categories.
   
5. Click on the category you have just created and under the medication list.
6. Enter any medication(s) that will be associated with this category.
7. Click Save (you will see “Changes Saved Successfully” in the bottom right).

Editing a Medication Category

1. Click on the category you want to edit under the medication list.
2. Enter any additional medication(s) that will be associated with this category.
3. Click Save (you will see “Changes Saved Successfully” in the bottom right).

Medication Category Report

There is a report titled “Medication Category Monitoring” that allows you to view the statistics and list of patients grouped by number of Medications assigned to a specified Medication Category.

1. Go to Reporting 🡪 Reports.
   
2. In the search box, type in “Medication Categories” and hit “Enter” on your keyboard.
   
3. Select “Medication Category Monitoring” to open the report.
   
4. Populate the Program, Chart Status, and Medication Category filters and click €œView Report€.
