You can enable Billing Automation for Invoice Creation, Invoice Processing, Claims Submission & ERA Processing.

NOTE: Feature availability depends on your subscription plan.

Manage Billing Automation Settings

  1. Under Organization, click Automation Settings.

  2. Click the toggle for each setting that you want to enable. A confirmation window opens.

NOTE: To disable a setting that is already enabled, move its toggle to the left.

  3. Review the automation information in the confirmation window, and then click Enable.

NOTE: Click Disable to cancel the action without enabling the setting.

After you enable a setting, the associated billing workflow is automated unless you create exclusion rules that prevent specific invoices or claims from being created, processed, or submitted to payers.

You can create exclusion rules to restrict the automation associated with each setting. Create as many rules as your organization needs.

After enabling a setting, click the down arrow to expand or collapse its Exclusion Rules section.

Review the Billing Automation Schedule

Enabled Billing Automation features run nightly according to the following schedule:

  • Invoice Creation: 11:00 PM client local time
  • Invoice Processing: 10:00 PM client local time
  • Claims Submission: 9:00 PM client local time

Invoices and claims remain at each step of the automated insurance billing workflow for one day, allowing time for manual review when needed.

For example, when all applicable automations are enabled, the workflow follows this cadence:

  • On Monday, Invoice Creation creates the invoice.
  • On Tuesday, Invoice Processing moves the invoice to Claims Awaiting Submission.
  • On Wednesday, Claims Submission sends the claim to the Claims Scrubber. If the claim has no errors, the system submits it to the clearinghouse.
