Before You Begin

  • These instructions are for the new version of Insights. Make sure you're in the new version by setting the toggle below the patient search to "New".
  • You need the Insights permission to change fields on a saved chart.
  • Changes you apply to a chart will show immediately, but you still need to save the chart to make those changes permanent.

Change Fields

To add or remove the fields used on a chart:

  1. Open the chart.
  2. In the upper right, click the Change Fields button.
  3. From here you can:
    • Add fields to the chart by selecting the checkbox next to one or more fields.
    • Remove fields from the chart by de-selecting the checkbox next to one or more fields.
  4. When you're done making changes, click the Apply button.

Filter the Chart Data

Use filters to change what data is included in the chart.

  1. Open the chart.
  2. In the upper right, click the Filter button.
  3. From here you can:
    • Change an existing filter's settings.
    • Add a filter by clicking the Add a filter... dropdown.
    • Remove a filter by clicking the remove icon remove_icon_dark.png to the right of it.
  4. When you're done making changes, click the Apply button.

Change the Chart Type

You can choose between various kinds of charts and group by up to three fields at once.

  1. Open the chart.
  2. In the upper right, click the Chart Type button.
  3. In the first dropdown, choose what kind of chart to show:
    • Bar Chart
    • Pie Chart (only available if exactly one field is selected)
    • Line Chart
    • Horizontal Bar Chart
    • Stacked Bar Chart (only available if more than one field is selected)
    • Horizontal Stacked Bar Chart (only available if more than one field is selected)
  4. In the remaining dropdowns, choose what fields to group by. For a vertical bar chart, these will be on the x-axis.
