Once identity proofing is complete, the prescriber should contact an EPCS Account Administrator to confirm their registration. Then the prescriber will be able to finalize their EPCS registration and begin prescribing controlled substances.
Before you Begin:
- Prescribers will begin registration and complete identity proofing with Exostar or ID.me
- EPCS account administrators must be already be assigned. Learn More: Assign EPCS Account Administrators
- The Administrator clicks the Grant/Revoke Prescriber link in the EPCS Administration section from the Admin tab.
- The administrator clicks the Checkbox next to the Provider's Name
- The administrator clicks the Grant button.
- A message confirms the prescriber has been granted EPCS rights. The prescriber can now finalize their EPCS registration.
- The prescriber logs in to the system and clicks the EPCS Registration link from the EPCS User Controls section of the Admin tab.
- The prescriber creates a four digit PIN code that will be used when signing prescriptions for controlled substances. Enter the PIN twice to confirm the code.
- The provider must remember the PIN. It will not be visible as it is entered.
- The PIN cannot be sequential numbers or have sequential repeating digits, and can only be numbers.
- Click the Save button. A Message confirms the PIN is saved.
- Complete MFA Authentication with Authy app/Exostar hardware token or ID.me.
- Exostar: Enter the six digit Passcode from either the Authy app/Exostar hardware token, then click the Submit button.
- ID.me: Select the ID.me 2FA Setup you want to use, enter the 2FA Code, then click the Submit button.

TIP: After registering with ID.me, EPCS prescribers can manage their MFA methods by accessing their ID.me account. Learn More: EPCS Device Management
- A message confirms the prescriber has completed EPCS registration.
