Once your Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is integrated with Ensora eRx, you'll need to subscribe your staff and prescribers to Ensora eRx. Once users are subscribed, they can begin ePrescribing immediately. Use this outline to track your progress toward mastering the ePrescribe process and optimizing your experience.
Subscribe to Ensora eRx
There are two levels of access for staff when using e-Prescribe: Registered Staff and Subscribed Staff. ALL staff accessing e-Prescribe must be Registered Staff. Those who are prescribing medication are BOTH Registered AND Subscribed Staff.
- Organization Administrator
- Admin Tasks to Complete Prior to ePrescribing with Ensora eRx
- Assign EPCS Account Administrators (You must assign an EPCS account admin if your practice has EPCS prescribers. An EPCS account admin must be set up before a prescriber can be granted EPCS access.)
- Providers:
- Register for eRx with EPCS - this includes Identity Proofing and Setting up your Token.
- Register for eRx only - No controlled substances
- For EPCS only - Grant or Revoke EPCS Access
NOTE: Review a list of Common Under Registration Errors and Solutions.
Create Prescriptions
Once you have registered, you will be able to start ePrescribing with Ensora eRx immediately
- Create a New Prescription
- Renew an Active Prescription
- Discontinue a Prescription
- Prescribe a Controlled Substance
- Create a Pending Prescription - Admin Roles
- Open the Tasks View
NOTE: Medications may not be listed in EchoVantage because they are uncodified meds that are unable to be mapped (no NDC number or identified parts). To troubleshoot this issue, see Manage Unmapped Medications.
Ensora eRx Optimization
You have the ability to customize options in Ensora eRx in order to streamline and improve your workflows. These features can really save you time! You can also manually add in patient data if it was not integrated with Ensora eRx.
- Add Additional Patient Information:
- Medications
- Preferred Pharmacy
NOTE: Patient allergies and diagnoses are recorded and managed in the system, and that information is pushed to Ensora eRx. Allergies and diagnoses can be viewed from within Ensora eRx, but can not be added or edited within Ensora eRx. To learn more about how to record and manage allergies and diagnoses in the system, see Diagnosis and Client Allergies.
