Permissions Required: Clinic Staff must have Module Permissions, Administration, or Account Types Manage assigned in order to manage Account Type.
The main purpose of an Account Type is to aid in reporting which can be a powerful tool for grouping the patient population. For patients with insurance policies, the Carrier Type can be used for broad categorization- Commercial, Medicare, Workers Comp, etc. Carrier Groups offer more specific categories such as BCBS, Aetna, etc.
Account Types can:
- Create groupings that span across Carrier Groups: Medicare Replacement Plans, PPO, HMO, etc.
- Indicate patients with special situations that may need to be considered for patient statements such as Self Pay, Lien, MVA. The Account Type can quickly identify those patients for special handling.
Add Account Type:
- Click on Administration.
- Click on General Information.
- Locate Case.
- Click on Account Types.
- Right-click Add.
- Enter the name.
- Click OK.
