Medicare patients have a specified number of In-Patient days. Once these days have been consumed, Medicare will no longer pay, therefore claims are not paid.
In the patient’s admit, under MOREINFO, there is a new option labeled POST MEDICARE DAYS.
At the time of admission, the user would contact Medicare to find the patient’s remaining days and record these days here.
As room charges are posted, the days decrease on the Census Summary report.
NOTE: The days entered in the screen above do not change as charges are posted, only the report will show the consumed days.
Census Summary
The CENSUS SUMMARY report is used at many sites on a daily basis for the daily morning meetings.
This report is found under REPORTS>UTILIZATION REVIEW>CENSUS SUMMARY.
The Census Summary report can be printed for a specific date, for all levels of care, or just selected levels of care.
Once the report is produced, the remaining Medicare days will print on the report.
Days are counted down as room charges are posted. If room charges are not current, the Medicare days will not be correct until the charges are caught up.
