When a prescription has run out of refills, the pharmacy can send a renewal request to the prescriber through the system. Prescribers can Approve, Deny or Replace renewal requests from the Pharmacy Renewal Requests section of the Tasks page. A pharmacy message alert also displays on the Compose Rx tab with a link to the Tasks page.
Prescribers can take action on a renewal request by clicking on the patient name from the Tasks page. If the patient name displays in blue, this indicates that the request is for a mapped prescription. If the patient name displays in orange, this indicates that the request is for an unmapped prescription.
A blue Exclamation Point icon will display next the the patient name if the pharmacy indicates that a prescription is urgent.
If an administrator has entered a Staff Review Note and Recommended Action, it will display in the Staff Review column on the Tasks page and within the renewal request, and the name of the administrator will display below the prescriber name in the Prescriber column. Staff Review Notes and Recommended Actions are recommendations only and do not transmit prescriptions to the patient's pharmacy.
