Review a list of any pending prescriptions from the Tasks page. From here, you can see the patient, drug, prescriber, location, and date for every pending prescription at your practice.
If patient links on the tasks page are enabled, you can click the link to go directly to the prescription transmit page. If patient links on the tasks page are disabled, you will need to locate the patient in your EMR to access the pending prescription and send it to the pharmacy.
Click the Select Location and Select Prescriber drop--downs to filter for a specific location or prescriber. Click the Display dropdown to select which drugs appear on the Tasks page.
- Select Display All to display all prescriptions.
- Select Controlled to display only controlled substances.
- Select Noncontrolled to display only noncontrolled substances.
To filter for a specific patient, enter the patient name in the Patient Search field, then click the Filter button. Use the Print icon at the top left to print the Tasks page. The page will display with any filters selected.
Transmit a Pending Prescription
If a Pending Prescription has complete Sig Instructions and Dispense Information, and you don't need to make any changes, you can transmit it to the pharmacy directly from the Tasks page.
- Navigate to the Pending Prescriptions section of the Tasks tab.
NOTE: If the Pending Prescription was created by a nurse or staff member, their name will display under the prescriber name in the Prescriber column.
- Select the pending prescription.
NOTE: A patient may have multiple Pending Prescriptions. Make sure the appropriate prescription is selected.
- If patient links are enabled, click the blue Patient Link to open the transmit page.
- If patient links are disabled, return to your EHR, then reopen the tasks tab to proceed. A blue Patient Link should be enabled for the patient you selected from your EHR. Click the blue patient link to open the transmit page.
Â
- Click the Transmit button to send the prescription to the patient's pharmacy, or click the Edit button to open the sig builder and edit the prescription before you transmit it to the patient pharmacy.
NOTE: Prescriptions may be pending with or without complete Sig Instructions or Dispense Information. Only complete prescriptions will transmit to the pharmacy. Incomplete Sig and Dispense Information is highlighted in yellow.
