Overview
You can share signed treatment plans with clients and contacts through the Client Portal. Recipients can review the treatment plan and electronically sign it.
Once a treatment plan has been signed, the signature status is automatically updated in the treatment plan list, allowing providers to track progress without opening the treatment plan. Recipients can continue to view and download signed treatment plans through the Client Portal.
Jump to Section:
Before You Begin
Verify the following before sharing a treatment plan:
- The Allow sharing of treatment plans setting is enabled in Client Portal settings.
- The client has Client Portal access.
- Any contact who needs access has Client Portal access enabled.
NOTE: Treatment plans can only be shared with the client and contacts who have the Client Portal access.
Enable Treatment Plan Sharing
- Click Organization.
- Click Client portal.
- Toggle on the Allow sharing treatment plans in Client Portal setting.
NOTE: This setting is off by default.
Share a Treatment Plan
- Open the client record.
- Click Notes.
- Click the Actions menu for the appropriate case.
- Select Treatment plans.
- Open the treatment plan you want to share.

Recipients receive an email notification when a treatment plan is shared with them.
NOTE: Before a treatment plan is shared, the Actions menu displays Share. After a treatment plan has been shared, the option changes to Manage access, which you can use to grant or remove access for clients and contacts.
IMPORTANT:
Treatment plans support only one client-side signature.
If a specific individual should sign the treatment plan, share the treatment plan with that person first. After the signature has been collected, you can share the treatment plan with additional contacts for visibility if needed.
Once a signature has been added, any other recipients with access can view and download the treatment plan but cannot add another signature.
View Signature Status
The Client & Contact Signature column displays the current signature status for each treatment plan.
Depending on the treatment plan's progress, the status may indicate:
- Pending
- Not Signed
- Signed
You can view the signature status directly from the treatment plan list, without opening the treatment plan.
Remove Access to a Treatment Plan
You can remove access to a shared treatment plan at any time.
- Open the treatment plan.
