Question

How do you bill multiple units on an untimed code

I am billing a timed code that is 30 minutes each unit. If I put the codes as timed, it tallies it per 15 minutes. I have entered the code as untimed but I need to bill 2 units per 1 hour. How do I add multiple units for this code?

Hi @johnwarren, thanks for your question! Untimed codes are always 1 unit in Fusion, so you generally can’t make an untimed code bill “2 units for 1 hour” just by entering 60 minutes. So in cases where payers require units to show differently on a claim, it would be necessary to do a claim/invoice rule.

Claim rules for your account can be found under Admin → Advanced Setup → Rules and click the Invoice Rules tab to manage your clinic's invoice rules, which can be used to change some information that appears on an invoice automatically. For example,  if you see patient for 60 mins, that would be a total of 4 units (15 minutes *4) and a claim/invoice rule can convert it down to 2 units which would equal 30 minutes.

Because claim rules can be tricky to manage, I HIGHLY recommend working with one of our support reps on this. You can create a support ticket in our Support Hub and I’ve included a link to instructions on opening a case below:
