There are 3 different types of syncing: Background Data Sync, Student Program Data Sync, and Organization Level Data Sync. Recent enhancements to this App Syncing feature improve syncing speed between the Portal and the app.

Background Data Sync

Background syncing takes data that was collected in the App, during a session and uploads it to the Portal. The App has improved background syncing. As long as the app is open it will continue to sync. This means that if you minimize the app and switch and use another app, it (whether idle or timed out) will continue to sync data points back to the Portal. If the app is closed, syncing stops until the app is opened again. 

Important: If you use an Android/Samsung device and are encountering syncing issues, please make sure that your app is in the 'Never sleeping apps' category. These sleep categories are a feature for these devices that can stop apps from running in the background when not active. This will prevent you from getting the most efficiency in syncing. Sync Student Program Data

This type of sync is bringing updates or changes made to the student's Program on the Portal into the App. For example, added Skills, Prompt Codes, etc. This type of sync happens every time you:

  • Add a Student to the Device.
  • Select a Student on the screen.
  • Click the Refresh button on the Student Dashboard screen. (This screen shows the last sync date/time for each student.)

    Note: Student data refreshes a maximum of once every five minutes. You will receive a notice if you manually try to refresh the sync before the 5-minute interval has expired.

Sync Organization-Level Data

This type of sync is bringing Administrative updates or changes made on the Portal (such as Forms, SOAP Note Templates, etc.) into the App. This type of sync happens every time you:

  • Add a User to the Device.
  • Unlock the App from the PIN screen.
  • Select a Student on the Student Selection screen. 
  • Click the new Refresh button on the Student Dashboard screen.
